They Said It

“If you deserve it, you deserve it. I don’t see us deserving to be in the Champions League next season. If we play like this and don’t finish games like this off, why should we play Champions League? We want to deserve Champions League and you don’t want to come and be cheeky. We want to earn it and with these results you don’t earn it.”

A furious Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after his players squandered chances and let their lead slip in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle last Saturday.

"I honestly don't think this is the team that should have taken away our unbeaten record. I don't think they fought hard enough to make the game difficult for us. But I believe we lost to ourselves. It was not a game we should have lost or even drawn. We had a lot of opportunities to add a goal or two. When we move a lot and our passes are precise, we always do something. To say we have lost this match, it's a very sour feeling.”

Mamelodi Sundowns boss Manqoba Mngqithi in a bitter mood after Chiefs ended their 21-game unbeaten run in the PSL.

"They're a good team, they'll win the league. We're far from that and we need to get better and we will get better. There's no doubt."

Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt after his team shocked Sundowns last Sunday.

"It's very special for us after we lost in the FA Cup. We needed to get confidence and keep going. In the last two months we have been so good. We have to keep this rhythm, to win more titles. It was difficult today, they were a good team. It's never easy. Today we have done very well.”

Manchester City goal hero Aymeric Laporte after Sunday’s 1-0 League Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur.

“He was special as a kid. You saw it. The ball stuck to his foot. You couldn’t get it off him. They told us not to go in hard on him because he was little, but we couldn’t even if we wanted to. You couldn’t catch him."
